What is Career Shift?

The SSEP Career Shift Program is a comprehensive, three-month initiative aimed at helping participants successfully transition into new careers. Whether you’re facing job instability due to the coal transition or simply ready for a change, Career Shift provides the tools, resources, and guidance you need to explore new career paths, acquire new skills, and connect with local job opportunities.

How much does it cost?
The Career Shift Program is fully funded by SSEP, making it free for participants. Those accepted into the program will be awarded a scholarship.

How many scholarships are available?
There are 30 spots available in the program, so we encourage interested individuals to apply early.

Who is eligible to apply?
The program is open to residents of the SSEP region, including the RM of Coalfields, RM of Estevan, and the Town of Bienfait. Applicants should be committed to remaining in the community and motivated to pursue a career change.

What is the duration and time commitment?
The program runs for three months, starting on Monday, September 9th, 2024. It’s designed to be flexible, with most of the training being self-directed, allowing participants to complete it at their own pace. The program includes two mandatory in-person sessions and two one-on-one career coaching sessions.

What kind of support will participants receive?
Participants will benefit from personalized guidance, skill assessments, access to training resources, and local job connections. Our expert mentors and career coaches will provide support throughout the program, helping participants navigate their career transitions.
